Rosa Cannon Allen, 80, of Roanoke Rapids died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Liberty Commons in Weldon.

Mrs. Allen was a native of Brunswick County, VA, the daughter of the late William Stewart Cannon and Rosa Ann Sadler Cannon. She was a devoted and loving mother, the best one could ever have. Mrs. Allen had a wonderful personality and cared for all. She never said goodbye to anyone without saying ''I love you'', even to strangers. She prayed often and knew that Jesus was her Savior. Mrs. Allen was a member of First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hartley M. ''Sambo'' Allen; her sisters, Lucy Hatchell, Martha Thacker, and Nola Clary; and her brothers, Tom Cannon, George Cannon and Ed Lewis Cannon.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter, Marie Allen Wright and her husband, Chris; two sons, William Stewart ''Billy'' Allen and his wife, Lisa, and Henry David Allen and Laura; all of Roanoke Rapids; three grandchildren, Tracey Kay Wright, Christopher Mark Wright, Jr. and Kayla Warren; her sister, Harriet Brown of Roanoke Rapids, and her brother, Sidney Cannon of Chesapeake, VA.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at her daughter’s home at 101 Strickland Circle, Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church with Minister Mark Wesner and Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
